Including premiere of "Tomes of Redemptions" featuring a theme of a fight with a dragon

James M. Green, an adjunct instructor of music, will present a tuba performance at 8 p.m. on Monday,  March 25, in Presser Hall at Ohio Northern University. The performance is free and open to the public.

Several of the pieces in the recital have electronic accompaniment. Green will premiere a piece he commissioned titled “Tomes of Redemption” by Ben McMillan, featuring a theme of a fight with a dragon.

Green founded and conducts the low brass ensemble, Polar Vortex, teaches courses in instrument literature and pedagogy, and performs with Polaris Brass, the faculty quintet at ONU.

Additionally, he maintains a sizeable low brass studio in central Ohio.

The Ohio Northern University Women’s Chorus will present a concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 22, in Presser Hall.

The chorus, directed by Dr. Christopher Larsen and accompanied by Adam Fahncke, will perform Minnesotan composer Linda Tutas Haugen’s “Anne Frank: A Living Voice.” The concert is free and open to the public.

Spanning more than two years of hiding in the annex, the texts and music portray a psychological progression from fear and despair to strength and hope, according to Haugen.
