Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center was named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by IBM Watson Health. The study spotlights the top-performing hospitals in the U.S. list based on a balanced scorecard of publicly available clinical, operational and patient satisfaction metrics and data.
This is the second consecutive year Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center has been recognized among the Top 100 hospitals in the country.
The February meeting of Ada Junior Civic League was held recently with Erin Swick, as hostess and Sherry Evans as co-hostess.
Club members prepared the lasagna dinner for Crockpot Tuesday at Restore on Feb. 26. JCL will sponsor the donor diner at the Ada Bloodmobile on March 25. The special projects committee is considering several important community programs for the annual donation from the annual pecan sale.
The program for the evening was the Polar Paws Service Dog Training Program. Three students, along with their dogs, Monty, Amity, and Chaos spoke to the group.
Senior All-American distance runner Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Great Lakes Region Track Athlete of the Year for the 2019 indoor season, the national office announced Wednesday.
This season, McVey posted the fastest one-mile, 3,000-meter, and 5,000-meter run times and helped establish the third-fastest DMR time in the region. His 3,000 and 5,000 meter times are also among the top-ten times on the NCAA Division III national performance list.

That’s the theme of a special evening for Ada Kindergarteners through third graders who have signed up in advance.
The action is from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the school cafeteria. A team of Ada teachers will be present and will guide students through activities during the evening.
According to an information sheet on the event:
“Our own Mr. Lusk along with his education students from ONU will present five engaging science centers.
“Students will travel to learn about the polar bears at the top of the world to the clouds at the top of the sky.”
Legendary Ohio Northern men's basketball coach Joe Campoli will serve as one of the coaches for the Reese's National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III College All-Star Game on Saturday, March 16.
Campoli will join former Elizabethtown (Pa.) coach Bob Schlosser as the coaches of the two teams, made up of Division III seniors from across the country.
The all-star game will be played prior to the NCAA Division III Championship game at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Campoli led the Polar Bears to the 1993 NCAA Division III title in his first season as head coach and to the 2001 Final Four.
