The Ohio Northern women's basketball program kicked off the 2019 calendar year in winning fashion Saturday afternoon, toppling Ohio Athletic Conference foe Muskingum 74-52 inside the ONU Sports Center in Ada.

With the victory, the Polar Bears improve to 8-5 overall and move to 2-4 against the conference circuit. Meanwhile, the Muskies fall to 1-12 overall, which includes an 0-6 mark in league play.

Dekari Tyre Ese Powell of Ada held at the Multi-County Correctional Facility, Marion

After a week-end long investigation the Ada Police Department charged Dekari Tyre Ese Powell of Ada and Mansfield with two counts of Aggravated Robbery, felonies of the 1st degree, for his part in the armed robbery of three persons in Ada on Thursday, Jan 3, according to Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief.

According to reports, three separate individuals known to Powell were approached separately and robbed at gun point of cash, electronics and drugs.

Committee assignment selection part of agenda

Ada council will reorganize for 2019 at its Tuesday, Jan. 8, meeting. That means the council will election a president, set meeting dates in addition to naming committee chairs and members.

Those committees include: finance, street, building and grounds, safety, personnel, utility and economic development.

Council will appoint representatives to the ambulance board, planning committee, negotiation committee for the enterprise zone, and the enterprise review committee.

Following its reorganization, council moves into the first official meeting of 2019.
