October’s temperature extremes were – extreme. The month’s high was 87 on Oct. 6 and Oct. 8. The low was 28 on Oct. 25, representing a 59-degree spread.

Pandora weather observer Guy Verhoff, provided the Icon with the month’s weather statistics.

The 2018 October average temperature was 54.0 degrees, compared to the normal average of 52.5 degrees.

This year’s October’s precipitation was 3.71 inches, compared to the normal average precipitation of 2.68 inches.

Liberty National Bank will sponsor a tailgate party in their lobby from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday. Employees will provide tailgate-type food and will be dressed in clothing of their favorite sports team. It’s a customer appreciation event, so all are invited to stop by.

Ameera Ansari, ONU costume shop manager and resident designer, turns Curtis into a zombie with a little help from Ethan D’Souza (right). The Ada Public Library sponsored a zombie makeup event on Saturday for students in grades 3-12.

Singers from Alger, Lima, and Delphos joined Noteworthy Community Choir for its first Saturday Sing on Nov. 3. Held at Golden Bridge Academy, singers learned several songs, accompanied themselves on Orff instruments (xylophones and metallophones), and created rainsticks - culminating in a time of sharing with parents and friends.  This was the first in a series of yearly workshops NCC will sponsor to promote awareness of new choral opportunities for singers of all ages. 

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office will sponsor its annual "Shop with a Cop" program of Saturday , Dec. 15. The event allows children from Hardin County to spend a fun-filled day with Hardin County law enforcement and volunteers. Donations are now being accepted at the Sheriff’s Office at 1025 S. Main St. In Kenton 43326.

Each child will be provided a gift card to purchase Christmas gifts for their families at Wal-Mart. The gift cards are purchased through donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations.

The next meeting of the Ada School board will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the school.
