Ken Collins took this photo of one of Ada's wildlife residents on New Year's Day. The squirrel is celebrating 2016 by chewing on one of its daily finds.

Bluffton Family Recreation will hold a Columbus Crew SC winter camp for youth ages 6 to 18 on Monday, Feb. 15. The camp takes place at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, from 2 to 5 p.m.

Joseph Beagle, BFR director, said, “Crew SC winter camps series focus on player development through a core foundation of soccer skills in a challenging and fun learning environment. Each camper is sure to walk away with a positive experience and high quality training from the only professional soccer club in the region.”

Once upon a time - in an era before girls' athletics, in the early 1970s, there existed an Ada High School Pep Club.

Here are members from 1970-71 school year.

Ada council has some New Year appointments to make at its first meeting of 2016, slated for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 4.

Among those decisions is selecting a council president and seven committee chairs:
• Finance
• Street
• Building/grounds
• Safety
• Personnel
• Utility
• Economic development

Plus, council members will chose representatives to the ambulance board, planning commission, negotiation committee enterprise zone and enterprise review committee.

All this is in addition to the regular agenda, which is an attachment at the bottom of this story.
