"No bones about it" is believed to have started in England around the 15th century. It described the unpleasant finding of bones in one's soup. Today we used the idiom to describe no hesitation or objection to something.

How can we maintain healthy bones?

Dietary supplements have surged in popularity in recent years as more individuals turn to self-directed wellness routines. Common dietary supplements include vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids, and probiotics. Available in pharmacies, grocery stores, and online retailers, these products are marketed with promises of enhanced immunity, increased energy, and improved overall health. However, despite their wide availability and often appealing claims, dietary supplements are not without healthcare concerns. Many consumers are unaware of the potential risks associated with their use, particularly when taken without medical guidance.

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a common health concern that significantly increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and other serious conditions. While medication is often necessary for managing hypertension, many natural and lifestyle-based strategies can help lower blood pressure effectively. Implementing healthier habits can lead to long-term improvements in cardiovascular health and overall well-being.

Adopting a heart-healthy diet is one of the most impactful ways to lower blood pressure. Reducing sodium intake is essential, as excessive salt consumption causes the body to retain water, increasing blood volume and pressure. Instead of processed foods, which tend to be high in sodium, opting for fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins can make a significant difference.

School is coming to an end, and summer is quickly approaching. This is a time for our children to relax, recharge and explore new environments. While our children are looking forward to sleeping in and lazy days, all children do better with structure and routine, especially those who have a diagnosis such as ADHD, Autism and Oppositional Defiant Disorder, who depend on structure. Even as adults, our routine provides consistency and stability and builds healthy habits. While we cannot recreate the structure found in school, ensuring our children are involved in activities throughout the summer months will help them to grow in numerous ways.
