The ONU Child Development Center held a trike-a-thon Tuesday to raise money for BOOTS for Bulldogs, a door security system to be installed at the Ada Schools.
These future Bulldogs, and their parents donated, $320 to sponsor a door. The youngsters rode their trikes through a colorful maze of tunnels, bridges, and gates.
Directing the kiddies maneuvering crisscross paths was like trying to herd cats, but the little ones had fun while raising money for a good cause. The CDC staff was assisted by university students involved in the honors orientation program.
Red begonias surround the fountain at McIntosh Center. These have grown taller than usual because of good care. Soon they will be replaced with chrysanthemum plants, a sure sign of autumn. (Monty Siekerman photo)

Ada civic clubs and churches took advantage of the Harvest and Herb Fest last weekend by making themselves known and encouraging membership. Some groups gave out water and Bibles while others had games to play, sold food, or sponsored raffles.
This is a series of photos of several of the civic and church groups who were on hand for the festival.

Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common disease among children, especially for those under 5 years of age.
Outbreaks of this disease in Ohio often happen during the summer and fall. It is most commonly caused by Coxsaskieviruses, which causes painful blisters in the mouth and throat as well as blister rashes on the hands, feet and diaper area. The virus is spread by the close contact, cough, nasal or oral secretions, and/or stool from infected persons.
