The Ohio High School Athletic Association will conduct its Inaugural 7th and 8th Grade Track and Field State Championships on May 13, 2017, OHSAA Commissioner Dr. Dan Ross has announced.

The event, which has been discussed for several years by the OHSAA’s Middle School Committee, was officially approved by the OHSAA Board of Directors at its October meeting.

Qualifying standards and state qualifiers will be coordinated through an online process at www.BaumsPage.com, with the one-day state championships set for Lancaster High School.

ADA - Using sharp shooting and a strong fullcourt press, a deep Columbus Grove girls basketball squad soundly defeated host Ada 66-36 Thursday night in the Northwest Conference opener.

The purple and gold lost their home lidlifter to fall to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the NWC, while conference favorite CG improved to 2-0 and 1-0 in league play with the decisive victory.

Quick Grove pressed and shot its way to an early 9-0 lead, and never was headed. Two three-point goals by Rylee Sybert and four layups by 6-0 junior post Paige Bellman propelled CG to a 25-7 lead after one period of play.

Santa exits (or is he entering) an outhouse at the Glenn Whitten home, 500 Conley Ave.

He said his sister saw the inflatable decoration for sale and sent it to the Whittens to add to their collection of inflatables which have been placed along a fence.

The blown-up Santa even opens and closes the door. Note the toilet paper is the outside...now that would be inconvenient. (Monty Siekerman photo)

The day COSi came to Ada

COSi puts the fun into learning, as demonstrated to 400 children in grades K-5 at Ada Schools on Thursday.  The outdoors came inside during the Center of Science and Industry interactive program about ecology.

Here, students raise their hands knowing the answer to the question asked by the instructor.
