Parents and sibs flock to ONU

Ohio Northern’s Family Day drew several hundred parents and siblings to campus on Saturday.

One of the events was Bright Pink 5K Race for the Cure. Sixty-five runners participated. Their goal: raise $750 for the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer. Kappa Epsilon, the student society of health-system pharmacists, and Zeta Tau Alpha, a social sorority, sponsored the race.

Other ONU Family Day activities included a fine arts exhibit, inflatables on the Tundra, and a tailgate.

Ohio Northern celebrated the Topping Out ceremony when the final beam was put in place for the Janes Lehr Kennedy Engineering Building on Thursday. The final steel beam was signed by campus leaders, alumni, and students.

A team of Ohio Northern business students—including students from Ada and Alger—won the best practices competition at the Beta Alpha Psi regional conference for the presentation “Branding your chapter.” The students then went on to represent ONU at the Beta Alpha Psi annual conference in Washington, D.C.

Members of ONU’s team were Ledondrick Chapman of Cleveland; Jack Ellerhorst of Cincinnati; Alexis Jordan of Alger; Alexander Klouvas of Fort Wayne, Ind.; Benjamin Neville of Ada; Zachary Padden of Cambridge; Martrina Parks of Worthington; and Victoria Volpe of Fostoria.

Outside sources confirm Ohio Northern University’s strong reputation

Outside sources confirm Ohio Northern University’s strong reputation. This fall, several ranking services again rank ONU among the best universities for offering an exceptional educational experience.

The rankings give high marks to Ohio Northern in a variety of categories. While the criteria differ, the common denominator is the recognition of the value of relevancy of an Ohio Northern degree.

Ohio Northern University’s pioneering heritage, enterprising spirit and promising future converge with the naming of the University’s newest building: the James Lehr Kennedy Engineering Building.

The first classes are scheduled be held in fall 2019 in this innovative facility, which is currently under construction.

The naming of the building honors Kennedy’s service and contributions to ONU. Beyond serving the University as a member of its Board of Trustees, he has made an irrevocable estate pledge gift of $10 million to Ohio Northern.

Here’s a new retention pond dug just south of The Inn at ONU. The pond was empty Friday afternoon but it won’t take long to fill, if the weather forecasts are accurate. Thanks to tropical depression Gordon, Ada can expect 3 to 5 inches of rain from Saturday afternoon through Monday morning. There are flash flood warnings in this area, as well. The pond is part of the storm sewer project that has been under construction the past few months. The storm sewer pipe runs north and south on campus near Heterick Library, McIntosh Center, and The Inn
