Speedway executive David R. Heppner will discuss “Engineering and the Entrepreneurial Spirit” during a talk at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19 in the Freed Center. The talk, which is part of the Spotts Lecture Series and is free and open to the public.

Heppner, an ONU engineering graduate, is senior vice president of engineering services and corporate support at Speedway LLC.

Heppner graduated from ONU in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He attended the Wharton School Advanced Management Program in 2013, and he is a registered professional engineer.

Tom Ginsburg, professor of international law at the University of Chicago, will deliver the Kormendy Lecture at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at the law college. He will discuss “How to lose constitutional democracy – and how to save it.”

In his talk, Ginsburg will explore if the United States is at risk of democratic backsliding and if the Constitution can prevent it. As he notes, to some, the 2016 election campaign brought this question to the forefront, while to others, the election represented a populist accountability movement against an unresponsive elite.

The service dogs in training at ONU received a gift from the tennis team...tennis balls, of course, one of their favorite toys.

Ohio Northern’s nursing program is ranked 5th in the state among 89 schools that offer nursing degrees. The ranking was determined by RegisteredNursing.org and was based on the pass rate success of students who took the state board examination.

It said this about Ohio Northern’s program:

“Small class sizes, faculty support and post-graduate career support are some of the few attributes of the Ohio Northern University nursing program. A well-balanced BSN or MSN program of theoretical and practical experiences help individuals graduate at the top of the field. Get all the program details by visiting the Ohio Northern University website.”

DiBiasio, who has been with the Indians for more than 30 years and is the brother of ONU President Dan DiBiasio, and Rosenhaus, who has been broadcasting the Indians since 2007, will discuss their respective roles with the Cleveland Indians as well as the current state of the team.
