Ohio Northern University has jumped from No. 4 to No. 2 in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Regional Colleges Midwest list for 2024. This fall semester, Ohio Northern University student-athlete Abigail “Abi” Akamine is more grateful than ever for the routines and normalcy of college, given that she and her family are survivors of the devastating Laihana, Hawaii wildfire that occurred in August.
Where were you on Sept. 11, 2001? For most college students, they had yet to be born. The Ohio Northern University Men’s Lacrosse team, however, won’t be letting the 22nd anniversary pass by without notice. Starting at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, they will memorialize victims and honor first responders with their 9/11 Stair Climb at Dial-Roberson Stadium, an annual team observance that began in 2019. Team members will climb the same number of stairs it took for first responders to reach victims trapped at the top of the Twin Towers.
The opportunity to save a life may not come around often. But when it does, it's important to seize the moment. And that's exactly what Ohio Northern junior Cade Crawford did.
In the spring of his freshman year, Crawford, a wide receiver on the ONU football team, participated in a Be The Match bone marrow donor registration drive on campus during which he had his cheek swabbed.
A new ranking by the Wall Street Journal recognizes the quality and value of an Ohio Northern University education. ONU is ranked No. 33 in the nation and No. 1 in Ohio for “salary impact” by the WSJ/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S.
According to the rankings, salary impact “measures the extent to which a college boosts its graduates’ salaries beyond what they would be expected to earn regardless of which college they attended.”
ONU is also highly rated in the publication’s overall ranking of the top 400 universities in the country. ONU is No. 96 in the country and second in the Buckeye State. Ohio State is the next highest ranked university in Ohio coming in at No. 222.
