Les Thede creates wooden sculpture as a memorial to his wife

“Sunburst over Northern,” a wooden sculpture, was dedicated on March 22 in the atrium of the ONU Dicke College of Business Administration.

Dr. Les Thede created the wooden sculpture as a memorial to his wife, Diane. She retired as an administrative assistant at ONU after working there 26 years. She was a member of the ONU Women’s Book Club and Bridge Club. She died May 1, 2018.

Dr. Thede is a retired ONU electrical engineering professor. In 2000 he began creating furniture. His company is EverLasting Furniture (ELF).

Cold steel, as in railroad freight cars, and warm spring skies with trees not yet in bloom are an odd mix for an otherwise artistic scene. This scenes shows the rail siding across from the ONU campus.

ADA - The Ada softball team rallied behind a big fourth inning to defeat visiting county rival Hardin Northern 10-6 Monday evening at the park in the debut of new head coach Rebecca Dicke.

Ada improved to 1-0 this season with the home opening-win, while HN fell to 0-1 with the loss.

The Lady Bulldogs plated all 10 runs in their final three at bats to post the comeback victory.

"The girls worked out their first-game jitters and rallied to make things happen on the bases," said Dicke.

"I was pleased at how the underclass players stepped up on both offense and defense today."
