“A Christmas market in the mansion” takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Jones Mansion, 313 E. Sandusky St., Findlay.

Admission is a $3 donation at the door with proceeds going toward upkeep and restoration of the mansion.

The event includes several market vendors with primitive holiday wares, paper goods, jewelry, women’s boutique clothing, cookies, children’s clothing, teas, herbs and flowers, soaps, Ohio poured candles, pillows, jams and jellies, doodle designs, quilting, dried fruit snacks, handmade stone coasters and more.

 Reece M. Lane, 84, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019, at 3:59 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on July 9, 1935, in Rosslyn, Kentucky, to the late Walker and Ida Belle (Fryar) Lane. On Nov. 23, 1957, Reece married Grace Jenkins and she survives in Ada.  

Reece retired after 20 years from Cooper Tire Company of Findlay, where he worked as a millwright.  He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict serving from 1953 to 1955.  Reece was a life member of the VFW Post #9381.  He was a member of the Union Chapel Missionary Church, Lima.  Reece took up golf after he retired as his favorite pastime.

Parents of Ada students may now siggn-up online to schedule meeting

Parents of Ada school students may sign-up online to schedule a parent-teacher conference set for later in November, according to Ada schools.

Conferences are Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 25 and 26. Each teacher's available times can be viewed on the sign-up. Some sign-ups times are alredy taken.

Conference times are 20 minutes each and start on Monday, Nov. 25, from 4 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

Conferences on Tuesday. Nov. 26, also 20 minutes each, start at 10 a.m. and continue through 6:40 p.m. Persons with questions may contact the high school office.

Presenter is ONU alum Pam Hershberger

Pam Hershberger, retired partner with Ernst & Young LLP, will deliver the Carroll V. Lovett Distinguished Lecture at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, in the forum of Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke Hall. The title of her talk is “Shattering the Glass Ceiling.”

The talk is free and open to the public.

Hershberger, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ohio Northern in 1987, pursued a progressive 31-year career with Ernst & Young LLP before retiring in 2018.

 Dixie Lee Thompson, 78, passed away on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 at 7:10 a.m. at Vancrest of Ada. 

She was born on June 18, 1941 in Lima, Ohio to the late Lester E. and Betty (Plummer) Mumaw.  On April 8, 1962, Dixie married David E. Thompson and he survives in LaFayette.  

Dixie was a homemaker and faithful supportive pastor’s wife. She retired in 1999 where she worked as a supervisor for Marimor Industries of Lima. Dixie was a member of the County Line Church of the Brethren, Harrod, where she sang at many church and funeral services. She was a 1959 graduate of Lima Senior High School.
