The Ohio Northern University HealthWise program recently received a $8,500 grant from the Buckeye Health Plan that will expand the program’s services, specifically targeting the area’s pediatric population.
This grant will assist ONU HealthWise in its efforts to expand its offerings from the traditional adult audience to the pediatric population, largely through health screenings and educational programs.
This project provides a focus on health from two different directions. The first is prevention, which will be executed by educating school children about healthy lifestyles, healthy choices and a life predicated on wellness.
Ada's newest art piece is The Tower of Inspiration. It is located on the main floor of the new ONU engineering building. The artist is James Lehr Kennedy, entrepreneur, inventor and artist. He is the great-grandson of Henry Solomon Lehr, founder of ONU. He is also a major donor to the building, named the James Lehr Kennedy Engineering Building. The sculpture changes colors as evident in the next photos in this series.
The Ada Rotary will host a Family Fun Ride from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 26, on the Rotary Riverwalk/Ottawa River Bikeway in Lima, according to Laurie Laird of the club.
“The ride will be a fun, family-friendly bicycle ride that will help us raise awareness of and funding for M.E.S.A.,” she said. “It will begin and end at the Ottawa Metro Park off of State Route 81.”
M.E.S.A. stands for Medical Equipment Supplies Abroad and is a service project for the Rotary District 6600, which Ada’s club is a part of.
