Electoral College's glitch can't be easily fixed

“The Electoral College continues to be perhaps the most maligned feature in our Constitution. It will be front and center Wednesday when the Supreme Court hears arguments concerning a seemingly small but essential part of the complicated process we use to select the president and vice-president of the United States.”

Ada resident and Ohio Northern University professor of political science wrote the above statement as an opinion column published earlier this month posted on CNN.

Isaac Spar $500 scholarship recipient • Melissa Gossard in this year's induction class

Isaac Spar of Ada High School and Trey Jefferies of Kenton High School are each recipients of a $500 scholarship from the Hardin County Sports Hall of Fame.

The announcement was made by Wes Davis, sports hall director, and Robert Simmons, scholarship chairperson.

The sports hall honors outstanding athletes, teams, individuals and groups who have made contributions on and off the athletic field.

Marcene Jane Pope, 79 of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away at 8:56 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

She was born on Jan. 5, 1941 in Bluffton, Ohio, to Oscar and Vera (Herr) Zimmerman who preceded her in death. Marcene married Joseph Pope on Sept. 25, 1960 and they later divorced. 

Marcene was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her cat “Boo Boo”.  She was a graduate of Bluffton High School.
