Ready, set, go. Competing in Ada VFW barstool racing are (left,) Justin Starr pushing his dad, Shane, and Ellie Laubis providing the power to Patricia Nelson's mobile chair. A story and additional photos is in the story below. (Monty Siekerman photo and story)
Barstool racing was one of the events Saturday at the Ada VFW Post.
The racing contraption was devised by Wynn Hauenstein who is pictured here pushing his wife, Colleen. The race between two "vehicles," mostly made from tricycle parts, was held between downpours, but got accomplished Anyway.
No "ladies and gentlemen, start your engines" called out at the start, no checkered flag waving at the end, but a goodly crowd enjoyed the "greatest spectacle in racing" in Ada that day.
The day's festivities also included human foosball, also "invented" by Wynn, karaoke, and food off the grill.
