Mark Badertscher, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator for OSU Extension in Hardin County, recently announced that he is retiring at the end of June. After a combined 37 years in public education, Mark wants to thank his colleagues and his community for their support. He also thanks them for supporting his events and projects over the years. Mark’s final day with OSU Extension is June 30. The University will be hiring another educator to fill the position.
The 2024 Ada High School ceremony on Sunday, May 26 followed many traditions: the procession across the stage with each graduate’s name called and diploma awarded, ceremonial and celebratory music performed by the band and choir, and even the waving of programs to cool the faces of those in attendance. This is expected to be the last year where programs are valued as fans: air conditioning of the main gym is in the works.
On May 22 the Ada Lions Club hosted Ada scholarship winners for 2024 at a dinner meeting. Scholarship winners are from left to right: SaraLyn Myers, Autumn Andreason, Ashlyn Madison, Abid Kahn, Josie Phillips and Ella Marshall.
The six scholarship winners introduced their parents, talked about their school activities, their college major and the university that they plan to attend in the fall.
The Lions Club extends their best wishes to all these students. Since 2000, the Ada Lions Club has awarded $111,700 in scholarships to 123 students.
Scholarship chair is Bob Simmons. Committee members also include Julie Simmons, Fred Reichert, Teresa Rush and Gary Ludwig.
There are very few Village of Ada employees who have the opportunity to speak with residents as often as clerk Eileen, who is a valuable member of the water utility team that ensures your water tap keeps flowing! The Village of Ada provides water, sewer and stormwater utilities to nearly all Village residents, and Eileen is often the first person residents see when signing up for water utilities. Learn more about Eileen and how she plays a role in ensuring residents have access to clean, safe water.
Q. Where did you grow up?
I was born in Toledo and grew up in McComb.
Q. When did you begin working for the Village and what made you decide to pursue an administrative career?
I started with the Village in late Spring of 2015 as a Utility Billing Clerk. At the end 2018, Doris retired as our Police Department Clerk and we took over the clerking duties for the Police Dept. at that time.
