Following search warrant issued at Scioto Village, Kenton

An investigation into burglaries in Hardin and Allen counties led to the execution of a search warrant by Hardin County Sheriff’s deputies at Scioto Village in Kenton on Thursday, March 18, according to Keith Everhart, Hardin County sheriff.

The warrant, served on two separate apartments, resulted in the recovery of stolen guns, tools and jewelry. Illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia were also seized.

Two males and one female was arrested in connection with the burglaries and incarcerated in the Allen County Jail. One female was arrested on an unrelated warrant and incarcerated at the Multi-County Correctional Center, Marion.

This story was updated at 9:23 a.m. - Ada police are involved in a homicide investigation this morning.

On Monday, Feb. 1, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Ada Police officers were called to 345 W. Montford in reference to a disturbance involving a knife. 

Upon officer’s arrival they discovered a middle-aged male had been stabbed by another male subject who was still in the house trailer.

Officers rendered first aid to the victim of the stabbing who succumbed to his wound at that location.

Hardin County sheriff deputies were involved in a chase of someone driving a stolen vehicle on Jan. 6. The department's news release follows:

A Hardin County Deputy Sheriff was patrolling southbound on U.S. 68 at approximately 7 p.m. when he passed a northbound Jeep.

The deputy’s LPR (License Plate Reader) gave him a stolen vehicle notification on the Jeep. The deputy turned around and caught up to the vehicle near the U.S. 30 and U.S. 68 interchange.

A traffic stop was initiated, and the deputy removed the driver from the vehicle. While investigating a passenger in the car jumped into the driver’s seat and drove away.

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - An explosion around 8:30 p.m. this evening jolted Bluffton residents as the noise echoed across town. A semi heading into town on State Route 103 near Diamond Manufacturing experienced a malfunction. The quick-thinking driver pulled into the Diamond parking lot, disengaged the cab from the trailer, driving the cab to safety while the trailer was ablaze. Blufton rescue squads were immediately on the scene. Jefferson Street was blocked off from County Line Road to the railroad. Smoke from the fire was visible west of Main Street.

Sunday's high winds resulted in some power line damages in Ada.

Police report that at 9:09 p.m. a low hanging wire caused a traffic stop near 511 N. Main St. due to the winds.

Legitimate agencies will never ask for money over the phone

Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief, issues a scam warning today on the Ada Police Facebook.

He wrote that while reviewing several cases that have come into the police department he noticed that several residents have fallen victim to online or phone scams.

Here’s the police department's advice to residents:

It seems like every day I receive one or two phone calls that start by asking me to "please do not hang up." This is my instant cue to hang up. 

I have found that hanging up on any, even remotely, suspicious call is the best way to keep my information safe and protect myself from identity theft.
