FROM HARDIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE FACEBOOK__We would like to welcome our newest piece of equipment here at the Sheriff's Office. This unit is called an MRAP and is completely armored for use in high risk situations. The taxpayers did not spend any money for this unit. The MRAP was obtained through the Federal Governments 1033 program which allows federally owned equipment to be transferred to local governments at no charge. The Sheriff's Office simply has to maintain the unit while we have it.
The MRAP will not be used for daily operations or patrol as it is a specialized unit to be used for specific operations only. Hardin County is not immune to crisis situations, this unit will help in keeping our deputies and the public safe during high risk events.
