And the weather was perfect

Perfect Halloween weather brought out many trick or treaters in Ada for two hours on Thursday evening.

Lots of treats were handed out; there were too many smiling faces for any tricksters. Main Street was the "in" place to be with hotdogs, juice, cookies, popcorn and lots of wrapped candy for ghosts and goblins of all sizes and ages.

Vancrest was another popular stop where kids could load up on handful of candy from the many residents who sat in a semicircle to greet the children and fill their bags.

Here's what on the current calendar

Book club, ACT tutoring and other activities on starting to take place at Ada High School as fall programming gets underway. Here's the latest from the Ada school website on these themes.

Oct. 31: 2 Hour Early Dismissal at 1:30 p.m. for staff professional development meeting

Attention juniors and seniors:  Just a reminder that you can apply to get Rhodes credits for Comp or Lit or Comm classes for 2nd semester but you need to apply by Nov. 15. You can apply online or pick up an application in Mrs. Prater's office.

Ada Vancrest residents Ralph and Patsy Worrell receive Halloween candy from ONU students who are members of the Honors Program.

The Worrells, originally from Lafayette, enjoyed the visit...and the goodies.

The Honor Students paid a visit to the Vancrest residents on Wednesday evening.

On Thursday night, the residents will play host to local ghosts and goblins during the community Halloween time from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Looks like ONU men's lacrosse team

Story and photos by Monty Siekerman
The ONU men's lacrosse team volunteered at Viva Maria's on Monday evening when a portion of the restaurant's sales were given to the Hardin County United Way.

Here is Alex Pizzaro, junior, civil engineering, volunteering as a server.

A number of diners also wore t-shirts with the United Way theme "Live United."

The restaurant specializes in Italian cuisine. The lacrosse team members helped at the restaurant in several ways as a community service project to support the local United Way.

A large number of people were on hand knowing that a portion of their tab would be donated to a good cause.
