Deb Curlis doesn’t hesitate when someone asks her where to shop.  “Buy local,” Curlis responds.  “You can find just about anything you need or want right here in Ada.”

Curlis is president of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce and the “Buy Local” Committee.

The 29th annual Ada Area Chamber of Commerce's Harvest and Herb Festival, tied to the Ohio Northern University Parents' Weekend and Wilson garage sale brought thousands of visitors to Ada.

Alexis Amburgey is this year's reigning festival queen and Gabby Linnon is runner-up.

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a job fair in October.

According to Deb Curlis, chamber president, "We are inviting businessese who plan to do hirings and we invite local residents interested in employment to attend."

The job fair will be from 10 a.m. to noon and again from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Community Health Professionals, South Main Street, Ada.

There is no charge for businesses to participate. To reserve your table or for more information contact Curlis at 419-788-9459. Deadline to register is Oct. 6.

It’s a downtown festival in Ada on Saturday.

It’s the 29th anniversary Ada Area Chamber of Commerce Harvest and Herb Festival. Over 175 booths with offer items for sale, stretching from Quest Federal Credit Union on the north to the Disciples of Christ Church on the south.

Here’s what’s in store during the day:
• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. booth display open
• 10 a.m. Main Street parade

Interim reports
The end of the first quarter interim is Friday, Sept. 19. Interim reports will be sent home with students on Friday, Sept. 26. Parents are also encouraged to monitor their student's progress through ProgressBook. Should you need help with your access, please contact the school office.

Elementary permissions
Mobile Dentist permission forms are due Friday, Oct. 10.

Community Health Professionals will hold a free "lunch and learn," in October.

The program titled "Ask the Pharmacist," will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, at Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main St., Ada.

Ask the Pharmacist is presented by P&R Home IV and P&R Medical Connection. Sponsored by Liberty National Bank of Ada, participants will receive a box lunch from Northern on Main.

There is no cost to attend. Donations are welcome and will be put towards the hospice patient care fund. Please RSVP by Oct. 13 to 419-634-7443.
