Lots going on at Ada High School this month

 Several important dates are in October for students at Ada High School. Here's some of those event:

          Oct. 10th at 8:35 a.m. Senior’s presentation for caps & gowns
          Oct. 19th Fall Sports Senior Night
          Oct. 15th Waiver day- NO School
          Oct. 18th starting at 7:45 a.m. Orders and deposits for caps and gowns
          Oct. 18th & 19th Aspirations
          Oct. 19th End of the first nine weeks
          Oct. 25th School pictures starting at 8 a.m.
          Oct. 26th Grade cards sent home with students at the end of the day

Coin honors Hardin hero

Hardin County history buffs may now purchase a two-sided Delano Morey challenge coin from the Hardin County Historical Museum, Kenton. Coins are $20 each.

Morey was a member of the 82nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry (or 82nd OVI) an infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action at McDowell, Virginia, May 8, 1862.  According to the historical society, the supply of coins is very limited.

 

 

It's ONU homecoming weekend

Oct. 5-7. All alumni, friends, family, faculty and students are welcome to attend.

With its “Where in the World’s Klondike?” theme, Homecoming weekend will kick off on Friday, Oct. 5. The Pettit College of Law will host various sessions throughout the day, including the dedication of the Rare Book Collection room at 5 p.m. and a law donor recognition dinner to follow.

At 6:30 p.m., former athletes will be honored during the ONU Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet.

Apollo programs offering customer service now open

Most of the Apollo Career Center programs offering customer service are now open with the exception of the all new Spa. The grand opening will be held Thursday, Nov. 1 at 11:30 a.m.

Normal business hours will be Wednesday through Friday, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The new program, Spa and Esthetics Technology will perform services including facials, eyebrow arches, eyelash extensions, and waxing. To schedule an appointment, call 419.998.2901

"Cash mob" coming to Ada on Oct. 16 to support Main Street business

A “cash mob” is coming to Ada in October.

The Buy Ada First Committee, an ad hoc group consisting of local business people and residents, will hold the community’s first-ever cash mob on Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The location, which is a prominent Main Street business, will be revealed soon.

“The Buy Ada First Committee has worked hard this year to promote the benefits that our community offers,” said Heather Cox, of the committee. “This summer we held the Music on Main that attracted several hundred people downtown for a fun summer family-oriented event.”

Who will be the 2012 Ada High School homecoming queen and king?

Here's the 2012 Ada High School homecoming court. One senior boy will be king for a night and one senior girl will be queen for a night. The king and queen will be announced on the football field in a pre-game ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday.

A homecoming parade will travel from the high school to the stadium starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Members of the court are: (Back row from left to right): freshman Blake Ansley, sophomore Lane Nitchie, junior Matthew Wilcox, seniors Kellen Decker, Michael Chen and Mason Acheson.
