Ada's Tree Commission will observe Arbor Day with a ceremony at 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 26, at the Ada elementary school.

Mayor David Retterer will read an Arbor Day Proclamation.This year's Ada's Tree City USA Award will be announced. 

Third graders will receive a a small Dawn Redwood tree to take home to plant.

There's still time to save some money on passes to the Ada Municipal Swimming Pool this season. Individual early-bird season passes are $30 in April. On May 1 the price goes to $40.

Passes are on sale at the Ada Water Department. The tentative open date for this year's pool is Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.

The secret’s out. The Buy Ada First Committee, planning the community’s third cash mob, this week announced the location of the event.

The cash mob takes place at one of Ada’s prominent retail businesses, New Leaf Garden Center, 0395 Ohio 235 - Ada, from 2 to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 23.

“Laurie Laird welcomed our invitation to host this event,” said Heather Cox, member of the committee. “We hope to continue more cash mobs in Ada this year.”

The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University continues its entrepreneurship workshop series in the Dicke Forum on Tuesday, April 23. The workshop will be preceded by a networking event at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will follow the networking event and conclude at 7 p.m.

The topic of the workshop will be “Women in Business” with Susan Schertzer, assistant professor of marketing in ONU’s Dicke College of Business Administration. During this workshop, Schertzer will share her successes, mistakes and lucky breaks as a woman in the business world. This event is free and open to the public.

Blanchard Valley Hospital has been named a recipient of the Healthgrades® 2013 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ by achieving patient safety ratings that are in the top 5% of U.S. hospitals. This means that BVH is an excellent performer in safeguarding patients from serious, potentially preventable complications during their hospital stays. This is the fourth consecutive year BVH has received this award.
