A relatively inexperienced Ada varsity volleyball team enters its fourth season under head coach Kyleigh Tabor in a bit of a rebuilding mode.

The Lady Bulldogs then lost to state powerhouse New Bremen in the sectional second round after defeating Temple Christian.

Six runners comprise the youthful Ada cross country roster this fall.

Sixth-year head coach Josh Klein has four boys and two girls out for the squad this season.

"We are going to try and have fun with the team this year and work to get our times down," said Klein. "We have a really young team, and Riley (Ferguson) is our most experienced runner."

Ada lost several key runners from last season to graduation and non-returnees, but three lettermen came back.

Tigers defeat Ada in grid opener

By Cort Reynolds

Host Waynesfield-Goshen pulled away from scrappy Ada with a big second half to win their non-league football season opener 42-12 Friday night at Tiger Field.

The deeper Tigers separated from a 14-6 halftime lead with 28 unanswered second half points to win, but it was not as lopsided as the final score indicates.

"I don't think the final scoreboard reflects how the game was played," said W-G head coach Shane Wireman. "It was a very hard-fought game. Ada is very physical up front, and has a couple of bruisers at running back."

Ada beat the Tiger girls 25-15, 23-25, 25-18 in the first match of the day.

Ada never trailed in the decisive third set and won convincingly.

Ada girl kickers win opener behind record Burkhart outburst

By Cort Reynolds

The Ada girls soccer team kicked off their 2021 season at Tiffin Columbian with a dominating 7-0 win amid a record-setting performance Saturday.

Speedy Bulldog sophomore Olivia Burkhart poured in a school single-game record six goals in her varsity debut to spearhead the win.

"Olivia had a top-drawer performance," said second-year Ada head coach A.J. Wahlie.

"She moved well and stayed active on the backline, and our center-midfielders did a good job of finding her open in the seams.

"You love to see that type of success, and hope that she can continue it,"  he added.
