Even though the Browns and Bengals aren't in the game

It’s Super Bowl time and the Icon invites viewers to test their football skills by entering the Icon’s Super Bowl Contest.

Beyond picking the game winner, contest questions include:
• Who will score first
• Who will lead at halftime
• How many points will the winning team win by
• and the toughest tie-breaker question of all time: Who will be the game’s most valuable player?

We are also looking ahead for more contests of all types in 2020. Persons entering the contest may suggest other contests the Icon should consider holding.

The Super Bowl contest winner receives six passes to the Shannon Theatre, Bluffton.

ADA - Well-balanced Crestview fought off a game Ada squad to pull out an intense 70-62 Northwest Conference boys basketball road win Friday night.

Five Knights scored in double figures to total all of the Crestview points. Southpaw post Carson Kreischer led the victors with 18 points, while senior guard Kaden Short tallied 16. Ohio State-bound 6-8 recruit Kalen Etzler netted 15 points.

"I thought Kaden played probably his best game," said Crestview first-year head coach Doug Etzler. "Carson was very efficient inside, and Kalen did a good job passing."

Bluffton and Ada Icon viewers are invited to enter the Icon Super Bowl Contest.

The contest will be posted on both Icons on Monday morning. The deadline to enter is Super Bowl Sunday.

The contest will have several questions and tie-breaking questions including:

•Who will win?
•Who will score first?
•Who will lead at halftime?
•How many points will the winning team win by?
•Who will be the Super Bowl MVP?

The grand prize is six passes to the Shannon Theatre in Bluffton.

ONU's Maggie Krause has realized her potential

Maggie Krause had heard it enough. She was sick and tired of coaches conveying to her the potential she had. The potential to attend college and compete in a sport at a very high level.

For years, coaches from high school, colleges and clubs had told Krause she had all the tools to excel in the sport of pole vault. But for years, she cleared the same height, didn't hit the mark she aimed for and fought disappointment every step of the way.

CONVOY - Host Crestview bombed in a dozen triples and rode a 28-4 second period to a 75-37 victory over Ada in Northwest Conference girls basketball play Thursday night.

The Bulldog girls dropped to 5-12 overall and 0-5 in the NWC  after their fifth consecutive defeat. Meanwhile, the Lady Knights evened their records at 8-8 and 3-3 in the NWC with the victory.

Crestview led just 13-11 after the first period as Ada junior Kylie Acheson scored all five of her points to help keep the Bulldog girls close. But the Lady Knights blew it open with a huge second quarter to lead 41-15 at intermission.

ONU women win one; men lose one

Two nail-biters: ONU women win one - ONU men lose one. Here are the details:

Freshman Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) played well past her years late in Ohio Northern's game against Otterbein Wednesday night. She tallied the final five points, as the Polar Bears eeked past the Cardinals 51-50.

The victory improved Northern to 12-4 on the season and 6-3 in Ohio Athletic Conference play. The loss dropped Otterbein to 9-7 overall and 4-5 in conference action.
