Finals Saturday at Liberty Benton

FINDLAY - The Ada track and field teams competed in day one of the Div. III district meet at Liberty-Benton in Findlay Thursday.

Competition resumes Saturday at L-B in Findlay with all finals events. Adaites Noah Mattson (shot put) and Nora Dellifield (pole vault) are among the top seeds in their events.

The Bulldog boys 4x400 relay foursome of Alex Morgan, Philip Gautier, Michael Crouse and Miguel Jordan finished first in preliminary heats to qualify as top seed for the finals race Saturday.

ADA - Visiting Delphos St. John's used a four-run fifth inning to beat Ada 7-3 in Div. IV first round sectional baseball play Tuesday night.

The loss dropped Ada's record to 8-12 after their seventh defeat in a row. The eighth-seeded Blue Jays improved to 6-18 with the win.

DSJ advances to play at third-seeded Columbus Grove (13-6) Thursday, May 16 at 5 p.m. in the sectional finals.

The Ohio Northern baseball program landed five student-athletes on the 2019 All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams as voted upon by the conference's 10 head coaches, the league office announced Monday morning.

Sophomore infielder Michael Rocco (Orlando, Fla./Zionsville, Ind.) headlined the selections with First-Team All-OAC kudos, his first career all-conference honor.

In addition, senior Luke Klinehoffer (Zanesville/John Glenn) and junior pitcher Jack Schaller (Bowling Green) were named Second-Team All-OAC while senior pitcher Jackson Buda (Norton) and junior pitcher Nate Bye(Thorntown, Ind./Western Boone) garnered Honorable Mention status.

Senior infielder Hailee Loughman (Brookville) has earned First-Team Google Cloud Academic All-District 7 accolades from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the 2019 softball season, the national office announced Thursday.

To be considered, student-athletes must be a sophomore-or-higher in academic standing, serve as a starter or important reserve player for their respective team, and have a 3.30 minimum cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale at their current institution. In addition, all nominees must have participated in 50 percent of the team's competitions at their designated position.

ONU women’s lacrosse squad

The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse program landed a school record four student-athletes on the All-Ohio Athletic Conference squads for their efforts during the 2019 season, the league office announced Friday morning.

Junior Kelli Hill (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) headlined the selections after being named Second-Team All-OAC at the goalkeeper position.

Meanwhile, senior Emily Hershberger (Jackson Township/Jackson), junior Maddie Storr (Clarence, N.Y.), and sophomore Sydney Skelding (North Plainfield, N.J./Dublin) each garnered Honorable Mention kudos for their performances.

ADA - Second-ranked Lincolnview came to Ada and used a 12-run fourth inning to beat the Bulldogs 23-1 in Northwest Conference baseball play on a cool Friday night.

The loss dropped Ada's record to 8-11 and 1-6 in NWC play. The league-leading Lancers improved to 19-2 and 7-0 in the NWC with the lopsided win.

Lincolnview led just 3-1 after two innings. But the Lancers scored six in the third frame, then exploded for a dozen runs in the fourth to put the game away.

Lancer Jaden Youtsey smacked two doubles in the big fourth inning. His first drive bounced off the right-center field fence.
