Construction of the new addition at Vancrest of Ada continues this month, according to Vancrest Facebook.

Due to facility expansion Vancrest has openings for STNA’s and nurses to help staff those new rooms.

As a high school columnist on the Icon

I have learned so much from writing here in the Icon, so I wanted to reflect on this school year and everything that I have learned from this experience so far. 

1-  Giving myself grace and pushing through my own short-comings
I’ve had to learn how to produce two articles a month on top of school and sports. If I really needed to, I could take a break from this column, but I really want to stick with it, so I haven’t. 

 Floyd E. Crowe, Jr., 80 passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 11:23 p.m. at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born on Sept. 22, 1940, in Ada, to the late Floyd C. and Edna (Alter) Crowe. On June 18, 1961, Floyd married Marleen K. Oates, his wife of 60 years,  and she survives in Dunkirk.

Floyd retired after working 33 years from Rockwell International, Kenton, he also farmed. He was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, Kenton. 

Preschool, after-school center, full- and half-day child care options

Ready, Set, Grow Preschool has a few openings for 2021-22, according to Jami Dellifield.

The preschool offers full-day or half-day child care and a preschool (9 to 11:30 a.m.) for ages 3 (potty trained) to pre-Kindergarten.

In addition, the preschool offers after school care for grades K to 5. The preschool is located in First United Methodist Church, 301 N. Main St., Ada, from mid-August through late May. Daily hours are 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Parents and care-givers may choose what schedule works, from 2, 3, 4, or 5 days per week.

Registration underway for July 10 7th annual bike ride

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - Slow down for bicycle riders coming through Ada on Saturday, July 10.

An Ada bike route is part of this year’s Ride to Remember bicycle ride with a starting and ending point in Bluffton.

The Ada Loop on the ride is 37 miles. It passes through Ada and LaFayette with a food stop on the Ohio Northern campus in Ada.

This is the 7th annual Bluffton’s 7th annual Ride to Remember.

After a one-year virtual ride, this year’s event returns with an in-person ride on Saturday, July 10, or an independent ride on a biker’s own time and location, according to Ron Headings, Ride chair.
