Methodists to present cantata Sunday

The 25-member chancel choir at the Ada United Methodist Church will present a cantata during the 10 a.m. Sunday service on Dec. 2. All are welcome.

The Christmas cantata, “Appalachian Winter” by Joseph M. Martin, will be directed by Scott Henning, who is the church’s choir director as well as Ada School’s choral director. 
Noah Walters, a junior piano performance major at Ohio Northern, will be pianist.

Refreshments will be served following the program.

 

BBQ pulled pork dinner fundraiser Saturday

A BBQ pulled pork fundraising dinner for Porcelain Ministries will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday at the Ada Church of Christ Disciples, 316 S. Main. Tickets are $8.  Walk-ins welcome while supply lasts.

Porcelain Ministries provides pregnancy and parenting resources for any Hardin County area mom in a struggling situation while pregnant or with a new-born infant.  

Volunteers help moms connect with ob/gyn and pregnancy resources and pediatrician and baby resources, as well as providing hands-on parent and baby care training, transportation assistance, and a personalized plan toward independence.

Church plans dinner fundraiser

The Ada Church of Christ will offer pulled pork and two sides as a fundraiser for Porcelain Ministries and the church. Call Dana at 419-233-4476 for tickets, which are priced at $8. One may eat at the church or carry out the meal which will be available on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 4-6 p.m.

Joel Penton to speak at Grace Gospel Church

Joel Penton, who played football for five years on Ohio State championship teams, will speak at the Grace Gospel Church worship service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30. He is a motivational speaker with a relevant, positive message, especially for youth.

Penton was a member of 3 Big Ten championship teams, a member of a national championship team, and 4-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. He turned down an opportunity to play NFL football and begin a career in full-time speaking.

The quilt winner

Charleen Gangemi is the winner of the 2018 quilt made by the United Methodist Women of Ada First United Methodist Church.  The lucky ticket was drawn the afternoon of the Harvest and Herb Fest. All proceeds from ticket sales support mission projects.

Bethel Church of Christ back-to-school event Aug. 26

“Urge” open to 7th to 12th graders

Bethel Church of Christ, 4041 County Road 304, Ada, holds a  back-to-school “Urge” event for 7th graders through high school seniors and the public, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 26, at the church.

The event’s focus, according to sponsors, is to encourage students to do well in the upcoming school year and to urge them to be who God wants them to be in their schools.

According to sponsors: “Urge is designed to help them to see the importance of shining their light and being Jesus in their schools. This year's message is calling for students to make an impact in their schools.”
