This spring allergy season could be the worst yet, or at least that is what you might hear or be feeling. Every year is particularly bad for allergy sufferers, but are spring allergies this year really worse?
While it’s true that allergies are on the rise and affecting more Americans than ever, each spring isn’t necessarily worse than the last. The prevalence of allergies is surging upward, with as many as 30 percent of adults and up to 40 percent of children having at least one allergy.
There are many events that can help predict how bothersome the spring allergy season will be and why allergies are increasing:
Ada High School's 2020 Baccalaureate service was videtaped and provided to the Ada Icon to share with viewers.
The service was held virtually on May 20.
This year’s Baccalaureate address, “What’s a Motto with Mr. Klein? Life Lessons for the Class of 2020” was given by Josh Klein, Ada High School math teacher.
The service included the traditional faculty, community and pastoral blessings as well as the graduate slide show.
This event is sponsored and organized by the Ada Ministerial Association, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a senior parent committee.
It's pick up and drop off week at Ada schools. Staff members handled both tasks as the school year wound down this week. This drive-up photo is step one when students drop off books. The next photo in this series show books stacked as they are returned and placed in the cafeteria. Finally in the elementary gym are bags of student belongings ready to be picked and sent home.

Mulch may be picked up on Saturdays after 8 a.m. at Bass Trucking, 0410 State Route 81, Ada. Deliveries are available on Saturdays.
Brown mulch is $30 per Bobcat scoop; black mulch is $35 per Bobcat scoop. Delivery cost is $10 per trip in Ada and $20 per trip in the surrounding area.
The Ada community will observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, with a 2 p.m., abbreviated ceremony at Woodlawn Cemetery, according to Win Hauenstein of the Ada VFW.
This annual observance is co-sponsored by the Foss-Agin-Meyer Post 185 of the American Legion and Ream-McElroy Post 9381 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
This year’s ceremony will be abbreviated from previous years. It will include presenting of the colors and laying of wreaths at the memorial.
