Women’s swimming and diving recap

The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team posted a winning season in 2017-18 under 14th-year head coach Peggy Ewald.

The Polar Bears were 5-4-1 overall and finished second in the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season with a 3-1 record.

Sophomore Lauren Halle (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) won two titles and set two school records to lead Ohio Northern at the OAC Championships meet.

Men’s swim/dive season review

ONU men’s swimming and diving team won the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title and posted its 11th consecutive winning season in 2017-18 under 14th-year head coach Peggy Ewald.

The Polar Bears finished 7-2 overall, won the OAC Regular Season title with a 4-0 record and finished second of five teams at the 2018 OAC Championships.

Senior Braden Kuhn (Tiffin/Columbian) and sophomore Nolan Huey (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge) led the Ohio Northern men at the 2018 OAC Championships at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.

Ada thinclads sweep W-G tri

WAYNESFIELD — The Ada boys and girls track teams each won a triangular meet in dominating fashion at Waynesfield-Goshen Tuesday evening.

 

Ada scored 90 points to win the boys team title. Waynesfield was second with 64, and Delphos Jefferson was a distant third with 20.

 

The Lady Bulldogs won the girls meet with 83 points to easily out-distance host W-G (53) and Jefferson (34).

 

Multiple Bulldogs won two events. Senior sprinter Logan Williams captured the 100 meter dash and the long jump. Sophomore distance ace Reece Evans took first in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs.

 

Bulldog boys downed by Jefferson

ADA - The visiting Delphos Jefferson baseball team traveled to Ada and came away with a 10-0 Northwest Conference win Thursday evening.

 

The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the NWC. The Wildcats improved to 5-2 and 1-1 in the league after the win.

 

DJ plated two runs in the top of the first inning, and the game stayed 2-0 heading into the fourth frame.

 

The Wildcats then broke open a close game with three runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth to run-rule Ada.

 

Ada girls blast Jefferson

ADA - The Ada softball team tallied eight first inning runs and cruised to a 19-1 blowout of Delphos Jefferson in a Northwest Conference mismatch Thursday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 6-2 and 3-0 in the NWC (tied for first) with the victory. The Lady Wildcats fell to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the NWC with the defeat.

 

"Today was a good bounce-back win (after an 11-2 loss at Shawnee)," said Ada head coach Troy Erickson. "It was a good win. We made the routine plays on defense and had good discipline at the plate.

 

"And 3-0 in the league is a good start."

 

Historical Society to meet Monday

 

The newly-formed Ada Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the Ada Public Library. All of those interested in helping organize the Society are welcome To attend.

Earlier, the Society organizers thought that the first annual membership dinner would be held on Monday, but the dinner has been postponed until May. The meeting on Monday will involve making plans for the dinner and its membership drive. All of those who attend the May dinner and join the Society will be considered charter members.
