Freedom School at ONU

Dr. Adriane Thompson-Bradshaw, ONU vice president of student services, serves as  guest reader for Freedom School harambee on Friday at the ONU Chapel.  Freedom School is held for six weeks during the summer in Lima for children in kindergarten through 8th grade. The group takes field trips on Fridays, so this week 60 youngsters from the Freedom School were at Ohio Northern. The school teaches children about healthy living, self esteem and provides art activities and sports for the participants. Literacy skills is also a main goal.

Catapult and the ONU Dance Company perform at Homecoming Sept. 23

Catapult is, technically, a shadow dance company. What it really is: a theatrical art form that is an amazingly imaginative combination of dance, story-telling, and sculpture. 

 Founded in 2009, by Adam Battlestein (choreographer, Creative Director and Master Teaching Artist for Pilobolus Dance Theatre for 19 years), Catapult catapulted to fame on Season 8 of America’s Got Talent, earning their way to the finals of the NBC-TV hit show.

Catapult is all about the human body and its ability to transform. 

Fix it with magic

Mark Wood entertains about 180 youngsters at his "Fix it with Magic" show. The Ada Public Library summer reading program event was held at Community Health Professionals.

Making a gingerbread house

"Look, I'm making a gingerbread house."  Eli Anderson, 3, was one of 50 people who attended a Christmas in July gingerbread-making time sponsored by the Ada Public Library and held at the Ada First United Methodist Church on Friday afternoon.  He is the son of Chris and Sarah Anderson. It was a great time for kids to be creative (any architects in the crowd?), hone construction skills, and lick your fingers.
