Ada council hold special session on Aug. 30

Ada council scheduled a special meeting at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30, in council chambers, according to Angela Polachek, village administrative assistant.

The purpose of the meeting is to consider authorizations for a replacement cruiser and conditional offer of employment.

The previously scheduled personnel and buildings and grounds committee meetings for Aug. 30 will convene immediately following the special council meeting.

Lady Bulldogs fall to Kenton

ADA - The Ada girls soccer team lost a low-scoring county battle to visiting rival Kenton 2-0 Wednesday evening at the park.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 1-1 with the loss, while the Lady Wildcats improved to 2-0 with the victory.

Kenton led 1-0 at the half and added another goal in the second stanza to provide all the scoring.

Hannah Holland and Taylor Gilfillan netted the Wildcat goals. Kenton put 22 shots on goal compared to 13 shots fired by Ada.

Academic Boosters taking orders for Bulldog spiritware

Ada Academic Boosters spiritware campaign is now underway for 2016-17.

The Boosters have a wide selection of t-shirts, hoodies, 1/4 zip pull-overs, polos, hats, scarfs, head bands, gloves and stadium blankets available to order.

Orders on the accompanying form must be turned in to Ada High School Booster's mailbox by Friday, Sept. 2.

There's lots of programming at the Ada Public Library in September. In fact, there is somehting planned for nearly every day of the month.

Bright Pink 5K and fun run Sept. 17 at ONU

The second annual Bright Pink 5K and family fun run takes place in Ada during Ohio Northern’s Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 17. The race starts at 3 p.m., according to Carley Strzalka.

The event begins with registration at 2:15 p.m. at the ONU Pavillion. The race is held on The Green Monster on the ONU campus.

Registration is $15, which includes a t-shirt and raffle ticket. Participants must register by Sept. 1 for a guaranteed t-shirt. The $15 fee is waived for youth under 10 who are with a participating parent or guardian.

Bulldog sports: Volleyball sweeps USV; Upper Sandusky stops Ada

Lady Bulldogs sweep Rams

ADA - The Ada volleyball team swept visiting local arch-rival Upper Scioto Valley Tuesday night in a non-league match.

The victory improved the Lady Bulldog record to 3-1, while USV fell to 0-3.

The Lady Rams were scrappy and threatened in the final two sets but Ada overcame USV 25-7, 25-23, 25-20.

"We served hard and with good placement," said Ada head coach Melissa Gossard. "We came out on fire in the first set."

Junior Melina Woods led Ada with a dozen kills, 16 digs and added two aces. Classmate Maddie Gossard passed out 15 assists, served five aces and hit four kills.
