Pauline Williams, Alger, was a member of the first 4-H Club in Hardin County

Pauline Williams, 88, died on Monday, Oct. 14,, 2013 at 2 a.m. at her residence in Alger, Ohio.

She was born on January 8, 1925 in Dunkirk, to Arlie and Esta (VanHouten) Romick and they preceded her in death. On April 15, 1951, she married Kent Williams and he died on July 22, 1997.

Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and she formerly worked as a clerk for Westinghouse Corporation of Lima. She was a member of the Harrod United Methodist Church, Harrod. She was a graduate of Dola High School class of 1943. She was a member of the Hardin County Star Lite Homemakers Club, Hepburn Hobby Club, the first 4-H Club of Hardin County and later she served as a 4-H advisor.

Disney in Concert coming to Freed Center Oct. 19

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present  “Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies” with the Ohio Northern University Symphony on Oct. 19 at 8:30 p.m.

Individuals can relive the magic of their favorite Disney movies when celebrated vocalists accompanied by the ONU Symphony perform music from “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Mary Poppins,” “Aladdin,” “The Lion King” and “Pocahontas.” Rare original storyboard art and video from the Disney archives projected on a big screen help bring these memorable melodies to life.

Ada Junior Civic League presents checks totaling $2,400

Ada Junior Civic League representatives presented checks totaling $2,400 to five community organizations this summer: 

• Ada Public Library 
• Ada Fire Department,
• Restore,
• Ada RR Park Garden, and
• Crossroads Crisis Center.  

The League had very successful fund raising last club year. Fundraisers included pecan sales, hog raffle, Harvest and Herb Fest 50-50 raffle and a white elephant sale.

Fresh Georgia pecans may be ordered from any Junior Civic member for delivery in early November.  Proceeds will go to community organizations.

Mustard Seed Cafe, Bluffton, open Friday-Saturday starting Oct. 18

Mustard Seed Café at the Depot, 562 N. Main St., Bluffton, will be serving a full dinner menu on Friday and Saturday evenings 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., beginning Friday, Oct. 18.
