Ada's Memorial Day speaker urges: "Honor the memory of men and women who gave ultimate sacrifice"
Dave Archer spoke at the Ada Memorial Day service at the VFW on Monday afternoon.
About 100 people attended the service sponsored by the Ada American Legion and Ada VFW.
Archer, a Marine who served in Vietnam, said Memorial Day is a mournful time in remembrance of our fallen warriors and encouraged the crowd to pray for the families and give them a comforting ear. He urged those in attendance to honor the memory of men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Jan Marshall, president of the Ladies Auxiliary, and other members of the auxiliary placed wreaths in memory of servicemen who died in wars, including the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War, Spanish American War, Mexican War, World War I, U.S. Veteran, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf, Iraq War and Afghanistan.
Tom Lehman, commander of the Ada American Legion, gave a welcome and was moderator.
