Bernadine E. Ackerman, 93, died on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 3:40 a.m. at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1921, in Lima, Ohio, to Isaac and Mary (Bethel) Brewer who preceded her in death. On March 7, 1942 she married Leonard Ackerman and he survives in Harrod.

Bernadine was a homemaker. She formerly worked at Westinghouse of Lima and then was a manager at Equity Dairy of Lima. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, LaFayette. Bernadine was a member of the Ada VFW Post #9381 Ladies Auxiliary.

Also surviving are two daughters: Rosemary (Earl) Frasure of Harrod and Carrie (David) Slone of LaFayette; six grandchildren: Amy (Robert) White, Charity (Jason) Stafne, Christel (Nate) Keller, Elizabeth (Mike) McGinnis, Bonnie Gruber and Rachel (Dan) Sobeski; nine great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Brewer; five sisters: Vera North, Naomi Miller, Imogene Guthrie, Leatha Altenback and Maxine Weber.
