Martha Madigan served in the Navy in World War II
Martha M. Madigan, 91, died on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at 7:55 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
She was born on Jan. 12, 1924, in Sidney, Ohio to Adolph H. and Rose (Kuether) Barhorst who preceded her in death. On May 20, 1947, she married Paul M. Madigan and he preceded her in death on March 31, 1999.
Martha was a homemaker. She was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during WWII. Martha was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Ada. She was a 1942 graduate of Russia High School.
Surviving is a son, Paul “Mike” (Margie) Madigan, Jr of Harrod; three daughters: Rose (J.B.) Schemmel of Sidney, Terri (John) Webb of Waynesfield and Deborah Seffernick of Harrod; one grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a brother, Leonard (Maxine) Barhorst of Sidney.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, a step granddaughter, three brothers: Lawrence Barhorst and two infant brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 300 E. Highland Ave., Ada, with Father David Young officiating. Burial will be in Harrod Cemetery, Harrod with a graveside military service conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. A Prayer Service will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made a charity of the donor’s choice.
