Charles T. Downer, 86, died on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at 3:20 a.m. at Lost Creek Care Center of Lima.

He was born on April 3, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio, to John and Elizabeth (Dempsey) Downer who preceded him in death. He married Linda Allen from Kenton on Aug. 16, 1974, and she preceded him in death.

Charles was a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a CB and he retired from Insurance Sales, where he worked in management and training.

He is survived by his children: Thomas “Tom” (Constance) Downer of Moraine, John (Chassidy) Downer of Ada, Teresa (Jerry) Soto of Ada and Karen Tisdell of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters: Marguerite Vidis of Columbus and Deloris Coffman of Okeechobee, Fla.; and a brother, Richard Downer of Ada.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Don and Jack Downer; and a sister, Betty Lou.

It was his wish to be cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date.
