Services Saturday for Dr. Dale Wilhelm, former ONU vice president for academic affairs
Dr. Dale L. Wihelm, a former ONU faculty member, died Friday, April 8, 2016, at Riverside United Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
A memorial service was Saturday, April 16, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Columbus.
Dr. Wilhelm served as a professor of chemistry and as the Vice President for Academic Affairs at ONU until his retirement in 1991. In 1993, he became faculty emeritus.
He is survived by his wife Norma, children Teresa and George, Laura, Hoyte and Terri, Kyle and Jennifer, 13 grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
After retirement, Dale was very active in Columbus, volunteering as a tutor in the adult literacy program of the Columbus Literacy Council and assisting with the Visitor Services functions at Ohio's Center of Science and Industry.
In addition, he worked with homeless families through the Central Ohio Hospitality Network for the Homeless, and was active in their church congregation.
Dale has been passionate about Ohio Northern University, keeping up with all University happenings since retirement and he cherished his memories and colleagues; his legacy will not soon be forgotten.
