Bob Carman 1938 - 2016
Robert R. "Bob" Carman, age 77, died on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at 3:17 p.m. at his residence in Harrod, Ohio.
He was born on Dec. 1, 1938, in Dunkirk, Ohio to Carl R. and Ruth M. (Wrightsman) Carman who preceded him in death. On April 9, 1959 he married Helga and she survives in Harrod.
Bob retired from Scotlad where he worked as a truck driver. He was a graduate of Auglaize Local High School. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran. He drove sprint cars and was an avid race car fan.
He was a member of the Radcliff Masonic Lodge in Radcliff, Ky. Bob was a 32nd Degree Mason; he was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #121 of LaFayette.
Bob was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather and a devoted friend to Chad Diller. He enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh. Bob loved taking his family racing, hunting, fishing, camping and on vacations out west. He also enjoyed farming.
Also surviving are two sons: Robert L. Carman of LaFayette and Roger L. Carman of Lima; a daughter, Carol (Mark) Hoffer of Ada; three grandchildren: Dennis (Inga) Carman, Jenny Carman and Andrew (fiance Meagan) Hoffer; three great grandchildren: Gabrielle Carman, Dillon Brown and Chloe Snyder; a brother, Chuck (Judy) Carman of TN; and two sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Carman of Harrod and Marge Endel of Waynesfield.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Ryan Carman; and four brothers: Carl Carman Jr., Richard Oder, Ronald Oder and Ted Endel.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Bob Clinger officiating. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery, LaFayette with graveside military services conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the LaFayette Jackson Fire & Rescue Squad at P.O. Box 7107, LaFayette, Ohio 45854.
