Polar Bear volleyball team defeats Denison

Senior Ashley Borchers had a double-double with 10 kills and 30 assists and hit .444 to lead the Ohio Northern volleyball team to a 30-28, 25-14, 25-17 victory over Denison on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 7-1 on the season, while the Big Red falls to 2-7.
Northern started the match slowly and trailed 28-27 in Set 1 before scoring the final three points to win the opener 30-28.
In the second set, Northern used an early 5-0 run to take a commanding 13-6 lead.
ONU went to the bench in the third set and scored four straight points to go up 19-13.
In all, the Polar Bears played 14 players in the match and had nine different players record at least a kill.
Freshman Chelsea Huppert had a team-high 10 kills and hit .429 and freshman McKenna Jordan had eight kills and 14 digs.
Denison was led by Leah Reinfranck with 12 kills.
The Polar Bears will return to action Friday and Saturday at the Franklin & Marshall (Pa.) Classic where they will face No. 13-ranked Eastern (Pa.), Salisbury (Md.), No. 14 Carnegie mellon (Pa.) and Stevenson (N.J.)
