ADA - The Ada volleyball team defeated visiting Perry in three straight sets Monday evening.
The 25-10, 25-13, 25-22 win ended a four-match losing skid and upped the Ada record to 4-5.
Junior Melina Woods led Ada with 17 kills, three digs, three blocks and two aces. Senior Haley Wyss contributed seven kills and five aces with three digs.
"Melina did a great job," said Ada head coach Melissa Gossard. "Our serving was really good."
Junior Maddie Gossard passed out 18 assists and served nine aces. Senior Alyssa Vore hit for seven kills with two digs. Classmate libero Olivia Alexander came up with eight digs. Junior Kaiti Newland served a pair of aces and made five digs.
"Olivia did a good job in the back row," said Gossard. "Kaiti did a really nice job serving in limited time."
Ada hosts fellow defending league co-champion Paulding Tuesday in a crucial NWC opener.
"We have to serve well," said Gossard. "The first league match could decide our NWC fate. We won a tough five-setter at Paulding last year, and it was the only NWC match they lost.
"It will b a good match, they have a good junior group and almost everyone back from last year."
Taylor Ramey fires a 59 for Ada
CONVOY - League-leading Lincolnview won a four-team Northwest Conference golf match Monday evening.
The Lancers shot 156 to easily beat Delphos Jefferson (189), Crestview (194) and Ada (265).
Taylor Ramey led Ada with a score of 59. Nathan Hurtig registered a score of 66 while Austin Amburgey shot a 67 and Jake Colwell carded a 73.
Alex Morgan added an 88 while Rob Allison posted an 88.
Joshua Rager of Lincolnview was match medalist with a low score of 33.
The Lancers improvd to 9-0 in the NWC and 18-1 overall with the wins. DJ is 12-13 overall and 6-7 in the league. Crestview dropped to 2-10 in NWC play. Ada is 1-21 overall and 0-11 in the NWC.
Ada plays at Spencerville with Columbus Grove Wednesday.
