Men’s and Women’s Choruses to perform in Presser Hall Nov. 9
The Ohio Northern University Department of Music will present a concert featuring the ONU Men’s and Women’s Choruses in Presser Hall’s Snyder Recital Hall on Friday, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The concert will open with the ONU Women’s Chorus performing selections from Michael Este, Matthew Armstrong, John Floyd Campbell, “Wicked” composer Stephen Schwartz and others. The ONU Women’s Chorus is under the direction of Marilyn Roth Basinger, newly appointed lecturer in the ONU Department of Music.
The ONU Men’s Chorus will perform pieces ranging from Russian composer Chesnokov to Tim Jones’ quirky “The Pirate Song.” They will sing in Swedish, Celtic and English. They also will perform a setting of the American folk song “Cindy” arranged by Mac Wilberg, the conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Past members of Men’s chorus will be invited to join the group in the singing of the “ONU Hymn.”
The concert will conclude with both groups performing “I Have Had Singing.”
