By Tim Glon
Three Ohio Northern players were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in volleyball for 2012 in voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.
Senior outside hitter Ellen Grenert was named First Team All-Conference, senior setter Kelsie Zumberger was named Second Team All-OAC freshman outside hitter Ellie Gillespie was named Honorable Mention All-Conference.
Gillespie was also named the OAC Freshman of the Year.
Grenert is now a two-time All-OAC honoree after earning Second Team All-OAC kudos as a junior in 2011.
She leads the Polar Bears with 285 kills and a .309 hitting percentage and currently has 767 career kills.
Zumberger leads the squad with 991 assists and ranks sixth all-time with 1,785 in just two seasons at Ohio Northern.
Gillespie is second on the squad with 273 kills and 393 digs. Her 393 digs is the fourth-most all-time by a freshman at ONU.
The Polar Bears (24-6 overall) must wait until Monday at 11 am to find out their NCAA Tournament fate. ONU is hoping for an at-large bid to compete in its 28th NCAA Tournament in the 31-year history of the event.
