The No. 5-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team completed its first ever undefeated regular season in school history as it celebrated Senior Day with a 82-43 victory over Marietta on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 25-0 overall and finish first in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings with an 18-0 record, while the Pioneers fall to 15-10, 9-9.
ONU recognized seniors Britt Lauck (Lima/Shawnee), Angela Tesny (Medina) and Amauria Campbell (Cincinnati/Summit Country Day) prior to the contest.
Junior Amy Bullimore (Morrow/Little Miami) led the Polar Bears as she scored a game-high 18 points and pulled down a game-best nine rebounds.
Lauck added 17 points and three assists for ONU.
Marietta was able to keep the contest close after one quarter of play as ONU held a 13-10 lead heading into the second period.
Northern would dominate the second quarter as it outscored Marietta 27-6 to take a commanding 40-16 lead into the break.
The Pioneers found some life in the third quarter as they tied Northern 17-17 in the third quarter.
An MC jumper would pull the Pioneers within 60-40 in the fourth quarter before Northern went on a 22-3 run to end the contest and seal the 82-43 victory.
Northern shot 25-of-55 (45.5 percent) from the field, including 3-of-15 (20.0 percent) from 3-point range.
The ONU defense forced 19 MC turnovers and scored 22 points off of turnovers.
The Polar Bears have earned a double bye in next weeks OAC Tournament and will await the results of the first two rounds of play to see who they host at the ONU Sports Center on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in a semifinal round.
