Joseph "Joe" Jordan 1932 - 2017
Joseph “Joe” Jordan, age 84, died on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at 3:44 p.m. at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born on August 21, 1932 in McGuffey, Ohio to Pearl and Emma (Woods) Jordan who preceded him in death. On August 21, 1954 he married Peggy Duffman and she survives in McGuffey.
Joe retired from F.H. Bailey & Sons Concrete of Ada and Kenton and also Green and Sawyer Concrete Company of Lima. He later ran his own lawn care and concrete finishing service. He was a 1950 graduate of McGuffey High School. Joe was a member of the Kenton Moose Lodge #428 and the Colonial Hills Golf Club, where he was the club champion for five years. Joe accepted the Lord as his personal Savior. He was an avid deer hunter. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and school functions. Joe’s philosophy was “if you are going to do something do it right or not at all.”
He is survived by two sons: Tim (Alice) Jordan of McGuffey and Todd (Vonda) Jordan of Belle Center; a daughter, Treena (Duane) Krummrey of McGuffey; a daughter-in-law, Lorinda (Dave) Sparks of Belle Center; nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tom Jordan on December 11, 1988; eight brothers: Chet, Clayton, Charlie, Calvin, Carl, Wayne, Richard and Lyman Jordan; and five sisters: Cloie, Martha, Kathleen, Barb and Audrey.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Pastor Randy Manns officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger and until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alger First United Methodist Church Backpack Blessings Program and/or the McGuffey Church of Christ for the benefit of Community Meals.
