Festivities begin with Mayor Dave Retterer proclaiming Saturday as Arbor Day, followed by the planting of a redbud tree donated by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.
Also during the morning, there will be:
* proper mulching demonstrations;
* make a bark rubbing;
* plant your seedlings;
* bee keeping;
* Hardin County Master Gardeners answering questions;
* tree seedlings for sale for $1, while supply lasts;
* check out Village tree care equipment;
* make pine cone bird feeders;
* a film "Trees in Trouble, Saving America's Urban Forests" will be shown in the Depot.
Arbor Day is a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees. Today, many countries observe such a holiday. Though usually observed in the spring, the date varies, depending on climate and suitable planting season.
