Senior Kase Schalois leads No. 34 Men's Outdoor Track & Field at Dr. Keeler Invitational

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Senior Kase Schalois (Van Wert) led the No. 34-ranked Ohio Northern men's track and field team as it competed in the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College on Thursday and Friday.
No team scores were kept during the meet.
Schalois broke a 4-year old school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as he finished sixth overall in 9:05.32.
His time currently ranks fourth overall nationally.
Senior Lucas Shumate (Wapakoneta/Spenverville) led Northern on day one of the meet as he posted a fourth place finish in the hammer throw and a seventh place finish in the discus.
His toss of 184' 4" in the hammer throw was a season-best and currently moves him into 13th place nationally with two weeks remaining until the National Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
Junior Bobby Borger (Perrysburg) and sophomore Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) both posted season-bests in the 5,000-meter run as Borger finished 22nd in 14:58.73 and McVey finished 27th in 15:07.39.
On day two of the invitational junior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) led the way as he finished first in the 800-meter run, finishing in 1:49.12.
Junior Samuel Boyd (Killbuck/West Holmes) ran a season-best time of 9:17.73 and finished 16th overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
The Polar Bears will return to Naperville next week as they compete in the North Central (Ill.) Gregory Invitational in their final regular season meet.
