Sounds of Celts in Ada
By Monty Siekerman
The Ada Public Library sponsored a program of Celtic music performed by the duo named Upriver Music at the Ada First United Methodist Church on Thursday afternoon.
The duo of Teresa White and Dan Moorefield also entertained with mountain music songs, including some they have written such as "Secret."
They played the hammered dulcimer, Irish penny whistle, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and guitar. During the past 15 years, the couple has produced 6 CDs and has performed for educational and historical groups, festivals, and private and corporate parties.
They enjoy Celtic music because their ancestors were Celts, both Irish and Scottish. Celts come from several countries of Europe, especially along the North Atlantic coast.
