Final lunch of the summer - now it's back to school
By Monty Siekerman
Eva Wolke and Calvin Fisher hand out piece after piece of pizza on Friday at the village pool during a pizza and pool party to conclude the free lunch program orchestrated by ReStore.
There isn't a count yet this year, but 1,500 free meals were given free to Ada area youngsters last year, so the program is a major endeavor.
The lunches were served Monday through Friday at War Memorial Park from the end of school in May until yesterday.
Now, its back to school. The ReStore program was especially popular on Fridays since there were water games and prizes that day.
One week during the summer saw law and emergency personnel and their equipment at the park so that kids could see the equipment up close and ask questions. Ada police, ambulance, and fire and sheriff personnel were among those present.
