Things you didn’t know about your own hometown

Early 1932:
January: the Ada roller skating hockey team lost to Lima. Players included Sanford and Harry Wright, James Ferrall, Kenneth Robnolte, Robert Lindsley, Homer Hawes and Robert Wallick.
March: Andrew’s Dairy (later Ada Dairy) was in business in Ada.
March: Russell and Stella Hoover of DeGraff purchased the Ada Creamery and opened the Hoover Creamery at 227 North Main Street.
March: Fire of mysterious origin caused damage estimated at $10,000 to the old Reese building at the northwest corner of the public square (Main & Buckeye). Heaviest losses were the Huber & Son hardware; Jacob New poolroom; and Ben R. Conner, owner of the building. Jack Pugh’s barber shop was damaged by water. The building was built before the Civil War.
May: the Ford garage owned by Harry Pratte was purchased by Frank G. Hellman of Van Wert.
