Bulldog spikers 4th at Minster

MINSTER - The Ada volleyball team placed fourth at the tough eight-team Minster Invitational Saturday.
The Lady Bulldog record is now 7-7 after winning one of three matches at Minster.
In their first match Ada defeated Botkins 25-13, 25-15. Senior Melina Woods slammed 18 kills, mustered five digs, served three aces and made a pair of blocks.
Senior setter Maddie Gossard contributed 18 assists, four aces and three kills to the win.
In the semifinals host Minster defeated Ada 25-18, 25-21. Woods knocked down 18 kills and added six digs plus two blocks. Maddie Gossard dished out 16 assists and made five digs. Sophomore Sidney Gossard dealt out four aces.
Senior libero Olivia Alexander came up with nine digs and senior defensive specialist Kaiti Newland added seven digs.
In the third-place match Russia beat Ada 25-14, 25-16. Alexander served a pair of aces and made six digs. Maddie Gossard doled out 13 assists, made seven digs and hit three kills.
Woods amassed 16 kills and 13 digs in the loss.
Ada (1-2 away) visits county rival Kenton (4-7) Monday night.
The Bulldogs (2-0 NWC) then resume league play at perennial power Crestview (9-2, 4-0 NWC) in a battle for first place Tuesday.
